Roy Knobbe death cause not yet known
Official cause of death has not yet been established for Roy H. Knobbe, 51, of rural Carroll who died Sunday afternoon.

Dr. James McQueen, serving as medical examiner for the vacationing Dr. James Jensen, says further study must be made before a determination of death is found.

"Initially we believed he died of a heart attack. However, after talking with friends and relatives, a question of electrical shock was raised."

McQueen says persons who were working with Knobbe on his farm Sunday afternoon reported an electrical short in a hog waterer near where Knobbe was found. An electrician was then called to the scene and a short was found.

"He may have received a strong enough shock from the hog waterer to cause his heart to beat irregularly. This could have caused death." Dr. McQueen says a microscopic study of Knobbe's heart vessels will be made to determine if he died of an electrical shock. Dr. McQueen estimates final results should be found in 24 hours.2

She sang with the choir, assisted with the church bulletin, was a housekeeper for several of the priests and also served as a communion minister.

Janice was known as a woman with a dry wit, who was never at a loss for words. An avid Scrabble player, crossword puzzle solver and dictionary word challenger she was a worthy advisory. Janice was a lifelong searcher of knowledge, often reading a book a week, researching genealogy, and staying abreast of current events. She enjoyed life; spending time with “her people” (family), playing games and broadening her view of the world through travel with her husband and children. As a mother, Janice encouraged her children to be independent, but kept them close. Janice was always ready for company and was generous in conversation and libations. She will be missed.

Left to celebrate her life is her husband of 59 years, Leon Baumhover of Carroll; her children: Jill Riess of Omaha, Jay (Jan) Baumhover of Mt. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Knobbe; her daughter, Diane; her son, Daniel; and her siblings: Merlin Knobbe, Florence Huegerich, Jackie Sibenaller, Jerry Knobbe, Edwin Knobbe, Bob Knobbe, Roy Knobbe, and Lee Knobbe.
