Mrs. Jacob Kress Of Piqua Dies
Mrs. Jacob Kress. 62, died at her home west of Piqua yesterday morning.

Mrs. Kress was born in Illinois, but came to Woodson County more than 40 years ago. She had made her home near Piqua ever since that time.

She is survived by her husband, four sons, Herman, Paul, Jerome and Jacob, all of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Josephine Voelmeck
of the home, Mrs. Claude Kolthoff of Waterloo, Ia., and Mrs. Curtis Peine, also of Waterloo. One sister and three brothers also survive. They are Herman and George Koester, both of Neosho Falls, Phillip Koester of Bartelso, Ill., and Mrs. Elizabeth Wilkerson of St. Louis.

Funeral services will be held at St. Martin's Catholic church at Piqua Thursday morning at 9 o'clock with the Rev. Fr. Gorges in charge. A rosary service will be held at the home each evening at 8 o'clock until the day of services. Burial will be at Piqua.5

JACOB KRESS
Jacob Kress, 85, of Rt. 4, died at 3:04 p.m. Tuesday of complications of advanced years at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Claude Kolthoff, with whom he made his home since July, 1962.

He was born on July 27, 1879, the son of Charles and Dora Saas Kress at Joliet, Ill. He married Katherine Koester on Jan. 23, 1903, at Piqua, Kan. They farmed in that area for many years. She died in 194. He retired in 1944. Mr. Kress was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church.

Surviving are three daughters Mrs. Josephine Voelmeck of Piqua, Kan; Mrs. Claude Kolthoff, Rt. 4; Mrs. Genevieve Peine of 3401 Veralta Drive, Cedar Falls; three sons, Paul Kress of Piqua, Kan; Dr. Jacob Kress, Jr. of St. Louis Herman Kress of 116 Sutton Ave., Elk Run Heights; five sisters, Mrs. Louise Burke, Mrs. Teresa Collins, both of Yates Center, Kan; Mrs. Lena Caldwell of Hutchinson, Kan; Mrs. Mary Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz.: Mrs. Elizabeth Layman of Piqua, Kan; four brothers, Joseph and Albert Kress, both of Piqua, Kan; George of Garnett Kan; Laurence of Iola, Kan. 15 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1941, one son, Jerome, in 1950: o n e daughter in infancy; and by one sister.

Rosary services will be conducted by the Sacred Heart Parish at 8 p. m. Wednesday at the Oppold funeral home. The body will be taken early Thursday to Waugh funeral home in Iola, where services are being planned for Saturday morning at St. Martin's Catholic church.4
