Maxwell Joseph "Max" Kies
WALL LAKE - Mass of the Angels for Maxwell "Max" Kies of Wall Lake will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breda.

Max, 20-month-old son of Jason and Jill (Steinkamp) Kies, died Sunday, Dec. 9, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll following a long illness.

The Revs. John McGuirk and James McAlpin will concelebrate the Mass. Lector will be Kate Kies. Gift bearers will be Jodi Lenz, Julie Burcar and Jenni Steinkamp. Servers will be Matt Stork, Sam Kemper and Ben Boeckman. Eucharistic ministers will be Madonna Boeckman and Lori Snyder. Casket bearers will be Chad Kies, Brian Steinkamp, Bill Kemper and Jerome Bruns. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Wall Lake.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 and a Christian wake service will be held at 7 Wednesday night at the church.

Max was born April 18, 2006, at Carroll. He lived with his family on their farm northwest of Breda.

He enjoyed his dog Dixie, popcorn, watermelon, tractor and combine rides with his Dad, four-wheeler rides with his Mom and riding in his grandfather's truck. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Wall Lake.

Survivors include his parents, Jason and Jill Kies, of Wall Lake; his grandparents: Kenneth and Linda Steinkamp of Breda and Rene Kies of Wall Lake; his great-grandparents: Rose Snyder of Carroll, Hilde and Herbert Arnold of Wall Lake and Raymond and Maxine Kies of Lake View; and aunts and uncles: Jodi and Scott Lenz of Carroll, Julie and Shane Burcar of Gilbert, Ariz., Jenni Steinkamp fiancé Kris Maines of Mesa, Ariz., Brian Steinkamp of Ankeny and Chad and Kate Kies of Genesee, Ill.

Max was preceded in death by a grandfather, Stanley Kies; his great-grandparents: Walter Steinkamp and Walter and Christine Snyder; and an aunt, Tiffany Kies.1

CARROLL - Mass of the Christian burial for Timothy R. Hauser of Carroll will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll.

Mr. Hauser, 39, died Monday, Sept. 29, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

The Rev. Timothy Schott will preside at the Mass. Lectors will be Mr. Hauser's brothers: Jamie and Chris Hauser. Server will be Karla Quandt. Eucharistic ministers will be Mary Kay Quandt, Marilyn Foley and Jean Knobbe. Gift bearers and honorary casket bearers will be Mr. Hauser's nieces and nephews: Elizabeth, Caleb, Lucas and Aaron Hauser.

Casket bearers will be Bryan Haberl, Robert Snyder, Steve Snyder, Mark Pawletzki, John Shymanski and Tom Hauser. Burial will be in Carroll Cemetery. Visitation starts at 3 and a rosary will be prayed at 4 Friday afternoon at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. St. Lawrence Parish will hold a Christian wake service at 7 Friday night at the funeral home.

A son of Ronald and Nancy (Snyder) Hauser, he was born Jan. 2, 1969, at Carroll, attended St. Lawrence Grade School, graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1987 and spent his life in Carroll.

He worked at various jobs in the Carroll area.

He enjoyed collecting comic books and action figures, music and playing guitar. He was involved with several bands.

Survivors include his parents; three brothers: Chris Hauser of Des Moines, Tony Hauser of Des Moines and Jamie Hauser and wife Jenny of LeMars; a niece, Elizabeth Hauser; and three nephews: Caleb, Lucas and Aaron Hauser.

Mr. Hauser was preceded in death by his grandparents: Leo and Carole Snyder and Wilfred and Josephine Hauser.
