Mass of the Christian burial for Leon A. Hoffman of Carroll will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll.

Mr. Hoffman, 74, died Tuesday, July 20, at Carroll Manor nursing home. The Rev. Siby Punnose will preside at the Mass. Casket bearers will be Vern Tigges, Tom Boes, Arlo Buetel, Marvin Tigges, Tom Rinker and Terry Holleran. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m., a rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and a vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Twit Funeral Home in Carroll. The casket will be moved to the church at 7:30 a.m. Saturday for visitation prior to the funeral Mass. Memorial contributions can be made to New Hope Village and left at the funeral home or church.

A son of George B. and Louise E. (Brincks) Hoffman, he was born Jan. 16, 1930, in Sioux City. He attended school at St. Mary in Willey and at Coon Rapids.

He and Norma Knobbe were married Nov. 25, 1978, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Mr. Hoffman worked for Heider Manufacturing in Carroll and in the maintenance department at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. He enjoyed dancing on weekends with Ruby Lorenzen in the surrounding area.

Survivors include two sisters: Darlene Holleran and her husband, Terry, of Payson, Ariz., and Doris Rinker and her husband, Tom, of Ankeny; two brothers: Ron Hoffman and his wife, Donna, of Mukwonago, Wis., and Tom Hoffman and his wife, Karen, of Delano, Minn; and his special companion, Ruby Lorenzen, of Odebolt.

Mr. Hoffman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma Knobbe; a brother, George Hoffman; and a sister, Diane Hoffman.1
