Darnella M. "Dardy" Loneman, 65, of Maple River, died Friday morning, Feb. 7, 1992, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, following a lengthy Illness.

Mass of the Christian burial was celebrated this morning, Feb. 10 at St. Francis Church In Maple River. Celebrant was Monsignor A.W. Behrens. Burial was at St. Francis Cemetery in Maple River. Lector for the Mass was Barb Imming. Gift bearers were Julie Loneman, Sarah Loneman, Heather Loneman, Jason Venteicher, Zacharlna Campbell and Kimberly Julich. Mass servers were Jay Riesberg, Jeremy Heinrichs and Adrian Koester. Casket bearers were Kevin Reis, Danny Reis. Pat Reis, Allan Olerich, Jay Riesberg and Randy Williams. Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll was in charge of arrangements.

Born Jan. 22, 1927, at Breda, Mrs. Loneman was a daughter of Joseph J. and Caroline (Steinkamp) Reis. She spent her younger years in the Breda community and attended St. Bernard Schools. On Jan. 15, 1946, she was married to Lawrence Loneman at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll by Father Arthur Poeckes. Following their marriage the couple lived in California for two years and then returned to Maple River, their current home.

She was employed by the General Electric Co. of Carroll from 1972 until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of St. Francis Parish in Maple River and the Parish Ladies Guild.

Mrs. Loneman is survived by her husband, Lawrence "Zeke" Loneman of Maple River: her children, Kenneth Loneman and his wife, Barb, of Altoona, Iowa: Richard Loneman and his wife, Brenda, of Independence. Mo.: Donna Venteicher and her husband, Ron, of Carroll: Diane Campbell and her husband, Zach, of Maple River: Nancy Julich and her husband, Ray, of Lakeside, Iowa; and Gerald Loneman and his wife, Becky, of Omaha, Neb; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She is also survived by her brothers, LaVerdos Reis and his wife, Luella, of Auburn; Delmar Reis of Odebolt; and Joseph Reis and his wife, Helen, of Coon Rapids; her sisters, Lorraine Killeen of Churdan; Janice Huisenga of Carroll; Betty Williams and her husband, Louis, of Carroll; Ila Mae Riesberg and her husband, Harold, of Halbur and Karen Reis of Des Moines; and her mother-in-law, Frances Loneman, of Carroll.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Eunis and Myron.1

Mass of the Christian burial for Lawrence "Zeke" Loneman of Maple River will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2002, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Maple River.

Mr. Loneman, 76, died Monday, June 24, at Centers for Long Term care in Carroll.

The Rev. Robert Brown will preside at the Mass. Lector will be Sarah Loneman. Gift bearers will be Laura Venteicher, Kelli Julich, Andrew Loneman, Ashley Venteicher, Amber Venteicher and Glory Loneman. Casket bearers will be Gary Beyerink, Lynn Wuebker, Marvin Huelsing, Tim Heinrichs, Jay Riesberg and Joe Thelen. Burial with military honors by the Breda American Legion post will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Maple River.

Visitation starts at 2:30 p.m., a rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and the parish will conduct a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. Thursday at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.

A son of Joseph and Frances (Griffin) Loneman, he was born Jan. 9, 1926, at Carroll, attended St. Francis School in Maple River and would spend most of his life in the community. Mr. Loneman entered the Army in May 1945 and served in the Asiatic and Pacific Theatres during World War II. He was honorably discharged in May 1947. He and Darnella Reis were married Jan. 15, 1946, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll.

After Mr. Loneman was discharged they moved to Maple River. Mr. Loneman worked as a bridge repairman for Chicago and North Western Railroad. He worked for B.A. Pille and Son of Maple River then worked for Juergens Produce and Feed Co. of Carroll from 1962 until retiring in 1989. Mr. Loneman was a member of St. Francis parish and its Men's Club, and he enjoyed playing cards and caring for his cars.

Survivors include six children and their spouses: Kenneth and Barb Loneman of Altoona, Richard and Brenda Loneman of Lee's Summit, Mo., Donna and Ron Venteicher of Carroll, Diane and Zach Campbell of Maple River, Nancy and Ray Julich of Lakeside and Jerry and Mikeal Loneman of Plattsmouth, Neb; 20 grandchildren ; six great grandchildren; three brothers and their wives: Merlin "Ted" and Judy Loneman of Mount Carmel,- Ervin "Whitey" and Lois Loneman of Carroll and Jim Loneman of Carroll; a sister, Lois Beymer, and her husband, Jim, of Denison; and a sister-in-law, Iris Loneman Oswald, and her husband, Andy, of Omaha, Neb.

Mr. Loneman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darnella, in February 1992; a grandson, Kyle Venteicher; and two brothers: Eugene "Johnny" and Robert "Windy" Loneman.2

Janice L. (Olerich) Huisenga, age 90, of Carroll passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2020, at Eden Crest Legacy in Norwalk, IA.

A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at the First Presbyterian Church in Carroll with Rev. Rikki Sorensen officiating. Casket bearers will be Janice’s grandchildren. Janice was born December 26, 1929, on her family’s farm south of Breda and was the daughter of Joseph and Caroline (Steinkamp) Reis. She grew up on the farm and attended St. Bernard’s High School in Breda. Janice was married to Milo Olerich September 7, 1949, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda. The couple made their home on the Olerich family farm north of Ralston. To this union were born five children: Allan, Linn, Rick, Cathy, and Dean. Milo passed away in July of 1965 and Janice continued to live on the farm for four years and worked for her sister-in-law Thelma Huisenga in her upholstery shop. Janice was married to Kenneth Huisenga in August of 1969 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll. To this union was born one daughter Mary. Janice and Kenny lived on a farm northeast of Carroll and Janice worked Franklin Manufacturing in Jefferson. The couple later separated and she continued to live in Carroll and managed Kentucky Fried Chicken and later worked at St. Anthony Regional Hospital as assistant dietician. Janice also worked for several years as a greeter at Walmart. She enjoyed gardening, walking, Jigsaw puzzles, antiquing, and spending time with her family and friends. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Carroll.

Janice is survived by her five children and families: Allan Olerich (Jonna) of Glidden, Linn Olerich (Linda) of Indianola, Cathy Bristol (Darrel Lindholm) of Lincoln, NE, Dean Olerich (Laurie) of Mundelein, IL, and Mary Ferden (Brian) of Norwalk; her daughter-in-law Janet Olerich of Carroll; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Caroline Reis; four brothers Verdis, Mike, Delmer, and Joe, an infant brother Unice; five sisters: Lorraine Kileen, Darnella Loneman, Betty Williams, Illame Reisberg, and Karen Reis; and a son-in-law Larry Bristol; and her son Rick Olerich in 2019.

SCRANTON - Milo Olerich, 41, Scranton, owner and operator of Milo Olerich Construction Company, died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, July 11, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll after a lingering illness.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Huffman Funeral Home in Glidden. The Rev. Ivan Rose will officiate; and burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.

Mr. Olerich, a carpenter, was born May 22, 1924, near Breda, a son of Earl and Tena Ford Olerich. He received his education in the Lanesboro schools, and came to Carroll County and the Glidden vicinity in 1944. His marriage to Janice Reis took place Sept. 7, 1949, at Carroll. For several years, Mr. Olerich was a fireman at Ralston. He belonged to the Elks' Lodge at
Carroll.

Survivors include his wife; five children, Allan, Linn, Rickey, Kathy and Dean, all at home; three brothers, Arnold, Dallas, Tex; Vincent, Seattle, Wash; and Elmer, Richland, Wash; and one sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Thelma) Huisenga, Carroll.

The Elks memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.2

Rick Olerich, 63 of Carroll, died Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at his home in Carroll surrounded by his family and friends after a lingering illness.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. In accordance to his wishes, following the visitation his body will be donated to the University Of Iowa Carver College Of Medicine. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family to be used for a later designation in Rick’s honor.

Rick, the son of Milo and Janice (Reis) Olerich was born on February 27, 1956, at Carroll, Iowa. He grew up in Ralston until junior high age when the family moved to Carroll. He attended Carroll High School, graduating in 1974. After his graduation, Rick enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country.

On June 12, 1976, Rick was united in marriage to Janet Quinn in Carroll. The couple made their home in Carroll where Rick was employed as an Electric Repairman for Electric Motor Service for many years.

Rick enjoyed woodworking, building many items and gifts for his family and friends. This is a hobby he passed down to his daughters, supervising them building, sanding, staining, and varnishing their own end table with a drawer, and a coffee table before they went to college. Rick enjoyed working with metal and electronics, and dry-walling. He also enjoyed plants, his garden, and canning tomatoes from his garden. Rick and his family made many memories Canoeing, and Camping. He always wanted to help and do things for others.

Left to celebrate his life is his wife Janet Olerich of Carroll; daughters: Samantha (Tim) Schulz of Carroll, and Abbey (Brian) Brauckman of Carroll; grandchildren: Morgan Schulz, Zach Harkrider, Mylie Schulz, Carson Schulz, Lena Brauckman and Wendall Brauckman. Also surviving is his mother Janice (Reis) Olerich Huisenga of Carroll; his siblings: Allan (Jonna) Olerich of Glidden, IA, Linn (Linda) Olerich of Indianola, Cathy Bristol of Raymond, NE, Dean (Laurie) Olerich of Mundelein, IL, Mary (Brian) Ferden of Norwalk, and a special niece, Danielle Quinn of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Milo Olerich, his parents-in-law, John and Dorothy Quinn, and a brother-in-law Larry Bristol.

Delmar T. Reis, 74, of Odebolt died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.

Mass of the Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at St. Martin Catholic Church in Odebolt. Burial will be in St. Martin Cemetery at Odebolt. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. and a vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.

A son of Joseph and Caroline (Steinkamp) Reis, he was born Jan. 30, 1932, on a farm in Carroll County and attended rural school.

He and Arlene A. Batta were married April 18, 1950, at Carroll. They had seven children. The Reises lived near Carroll, Westside, Wall Lake and Vail before moving to Odebolt in 1959. Mr. Reis was a farm laborer; drove a milk truck for two years; was a salesman and mechanic for Carrier Automotive, Mandernach Motors and Beckman Motors; and joined ownership of Reis Service in 1979. He retired in 1995.

He enjoyed working on stock cars, racing, gardening, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and training horses. Mr. Reis also served his community as a volunteer firefighter and part-time police officer.

Survivors include six children and their spouses: Michael Reis and wife Lucy of Fullerton, Neb., Patrick Reis and wife Becky of Odebolt, Thomas Reis and wife Judy of Gilbert, Deanna Russell and husband Kenneth of Storm Lake, Ted Reis and wife Diane of Omaha, Neb., and Mark Reis and wife Tandy of Odebolt; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Reis, of Jones, Okla; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Karen Reis of Des Moines, Janice Huisenga of Carroll and Illa Mae Riesberg of Halbur; four sisters-in-law: Helen Reis of Coon Rapids, Shirley Schachtner of Carroll, Luella Reis of Auburn and Betti Lunkenheimer of Odebolt; and two brothers-in-law: Louis Williams of Carroll and Frank Batta of Minneapolis, Minn.

Mr. Reis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene, on Nov. 12, 1990; a son, Timothy Reis; four brothers: LaVerdos, Unis, Myron, and Joseph Reis Jr; and three sisters: Lorraine Killeen, Darnella Loneman and Betty Williams

Mass of the Christian burial for Arlene A. Reis, a Carroll native, was celebrated Thursday, Nov. 15, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Odebolt. Burial was at St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery in Odebolt.

Mrs. Reis, 59, died Monday, Nov. 12, 1990, at Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake, after a year-long illness.

Father Richard Birdsall officiated at the services. Casket bearers were Kevin Reis, Danny Reis, Allan Olerich, Scott Williams, Kenneth Loneman and Steve Killeen. Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt was in charge of arrangements.

Born March 25, 1931, in Carroll, she was a daughter of John J. and Mary (Thede) Batta. On April 18, 1950, she was married to Delmar T. Reis at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. She was a member of the St. Martin's Ladies Guild and the Odebolt-Arthur Athletic Boosters. She worked at BilMar Foods.

She is survived by her husband, Delmar of Odebolt; five sons, Mike Reis and his wife, Lucy, of Fullerton, Neb., Pat Reis and his wife, Becky, of Odebolt, Tom Reis and his wife, Teresa, of Ames, Ted Reis and his wife, Diane, of Omaha, Neb., and Mark Reis and his wife, Tandy, of Odebolt; one daughter, Deanna Kelly of Storm Lake; 18 grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Schachtrier of Carroll; a brother, Frank Batta of Minneapolis, Minn; and a daughter-in-law, Terri Reis of Hot Springs, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Tim Reis.3

Lucretia Rose Reis
FULLERTON — Lucretia “Lucy” Rose Reis, 69, of Fullerton passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at CHI Health St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island after a long battle with cancer, heart and lung disease.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fullerton with Reverend David Fulton officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Fullerton. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary service on Monday, Feb. 10, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family.

Lucy was born May 14, 1950, to R. Carl “Casey” and Shirley Frances (Moorehead) Casebolt in Mason City, Iowa. She attended school in Webster City, Iowa, and graduated from West Bend High School in West Bend, Iowa. After graduation, she attended business school in Mason City, Iowa.

On May 29, 1971, she married Michael Reis in Duncombe, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Jeff, Jenny and Christy. They moved to Nebraska in 1972, and made their home in Fullerton in 1974.

Lucy worked as a bookkeeper/office manager for many businesses, including Schweitz Equipment, Fullerton Hospital, Fullerton Senior Center and Nance County Medical Clinic. The last 10 years of her career, she was a medical coder for various medical providers until she retired in 2019. Lucy’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities and events near and far. She enjoyed traveling and being on the go. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, coloring, and her dogs. She was very well-known for her infectious laugh and smile, and her kind heart. She warmly welcomed everyone into her life and was greatly blessed with some dear friends. She will be greatly missed by all.

Lucy is survived by her husband, Mike of Fullerton; children, Jeff (Dr. Amy) Reis of Grand Island, Jenny (Kevin) Koziol of Fullerton, Christy (Brady) Yosten of Cedar Rapids; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandson; siblings, Judy (Mike) Frey of Fullerton, Roger (Roxann) Casebolt of Franklin, N.C., Sandy (Ron) Davis of Grand Island, Rich (Lisa) Casebolt of Fullerton; and several brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Delmar and Arlene Reis; brother-in-law, Tim Reis; niece, Tara Jo Davis; and nephew, Anthony Michael Davis.

ODEBOLT - Mass of the Christian burial for Timothy Delmar Reis, a Carroll native, was celebrated this morning, Jan. 9, at St. Martin's Catholic Church here. Mr. Reis, 32, died Friday, Jan. 5, 1990, in an accidental fall from a horse at a horse race track in Hot Springs. Ark.

Burial was at St. Martin's Cemetery in Odebolt. The Rev. Richard Birdsall was celebrant at the Mass. Casket bearers were Steve Loger, Travis Reis, Jeff Reis, Ken Hurley, Bob Fineran and Clayton Larson. Farber and Otteman Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Born May 6, 1957, in Carroll, Mr. Reis was a son of Delmar and Arlene Reis. He was baptized at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He graduated from Odebolt-Arthur High School in 1975.

On Nov. 30, 1983, he was married to Terry Padron at Hot Springs. The couple had two children, Cassie Lee and Coty Ann.

Mr. Reis, a horse trainer, was a member of the Thoroughbred Horseman's Association.

Mr. Reis is survived by his wife and children; parents, who live in Odebolt; and five brothers and one sister and their spouses, Mike and Lucy Reis of Fullerton, Neb., Pat and Becky Reis of Odebolt, Tom and Theresa Reis of Ames, Ted and Diane Reis of Omaha, Neb., Mark and Tandy Reis of Odebolt and Deanna Kelly of Storm Lake.1
