Mrs. Williams. 65, died Monday, July 12, 1999, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll following a long illness.

The Rev. Laurence Burns will preside at the Mass. Lectors will be Pat and Kris Reis. Gift bearers will be Kari Reis, Janet Wiederien and Diane Campbell. Eucharistic ministers will be Barb Willenborg and Louie and Barb Smith. Casket bearers will be Mike Reis, Kevin Reis, Terry Reis, Steve Killeen, Jay Riesberg and Rick Olerich. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Friends will call after 2:30 and a rosary will be prayed at 3 Wednesday afternoon at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. St. Lawrence Parish will hold a Christian wake service at 7:30 and another rosary will be prayed at 8:15 Wednesday night at the funeral home.

A daughter of Joseph J. and Caroline (Steinkamp) Reis, she was born June 5, 1934, at Breda, attended St. Bernard School there and St. Lawrence School in Carroll and spent her lifetime in those communities. She and Louis Williams were married Sept. 10, 1952, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. They spent their married lives in Carroll.

Mrs. Williams was employed at the former Jung's Bakery and the former Pamida Inc. store in Carroll. She then worked for 18 years at Coast to Coast until retiring in June 1998. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and its Ladies Guild and was a former member of the Left Footers Square Dance Club. She also volunteered at Carroll Middle School.

Survivors include her husband, Louis Williams, of Carroll; four children and their families: Linda and Jim Weber of Carroll and children Keith, Tonya. Eric and Bryan, Scott Williams of Sioux City and children Shawn, Ryan and Brittny, Randy and Sandy Williams of Carroll and children Nicole and Tyler, and Sandy and Terry Kluver of Carroll and children Ashley, Amanda and Alyssa; four sisters: Lorraine Killeen of Churdan, Janice Huisenga of Carroll. Ila Mae Riesberg of Halbur and Karen Reis of Des Moines; two brothers and their wives: LaVerdos and Luella Reis of Auburn and Delmar and Louisa Reis of Odebolt; a sister-in-law, Helen Reis, of Coon Rapids; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Loneman, of Maple River.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Unis, Myro and Joseph Reis; a sister, Darnella Loneman; three brothers-in-law: Kelly Killeen, Milo Olerich and Harold Riesberg; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Reis.3

Louis Williams, age 95, of Carroll died Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2019 at St. John Paul II Parish - St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Shinoj Jose. Music will be by Kate Cuddy and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lectors will be Ashely Betts, Amanda DeWall, and Nicole Williams. Gift Bearers will be Alyssa Fruchtenicht, and Brittny Oetken. Eucharistic Minister will be Louis Smith. Casket Bearers will be Keith Weber, Eric Weber, Bryan Weber, Shawn Williams, Ryan Williams, Tyler Williams, and Jon Fields. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Louis, the son of Anton and Ida (Zubrod) Williams was born on June 18, 1924, near Halbur, Iowa. He grew up near Halbur, and attended St. Augustine School. After his education he assisted on the family farm. In 1946 Louis was inducted into the United States Army, and proudly served his country. Upon his honorable discharge he returned home.
On September 10, 1952, he was united in marriage to Betty Reis at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple made their home in Carroll where Louis was employed as a carpenter his entire working career. Louis enjoyed woodworking, and making a roll-top desk for all of his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping, square dancing, golfing, attending his grandchildren’s events, and baseball, especially when his grandchildren were playing, as well as the Minnesota Twins. Louis was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll.

Left to celebrate Louis’ life are his children: Linda (Jim) Weber of Carroll, Scott (Rose) Williams of Sioux City, Randy (Sandy) Williams of Carroll, and Sandy (Terry) Kluver of Carroll; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law: Bernice Williams of Carroll, Esther Williams of Manning, Velma Williams of Halbur, and Anita Williams of Minnesota; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Betty in 1999; and his siblings: Rita (Edward) Meier, Cyril (Helen) Williams, Martha (Walter) Riesberg, Catherine (Albert) Irlmeier, Virgil Williams, Leo Williams, Tony Williams, Raymond Williams, and Ida (Ralph) Hoffmann.

Ila Mae Riesberg
Illa Mae, daughter of Joseph John and Caroline (Steinkamp) Reis was born May 21, 1936, in Carroll, Iowa. She attended Breda High School. On June 18, 1955, Illa Mae was united in marriage with Harold Riesberg. To this union seven children were born. Illa Mae was a homemaker and also provided in-home daycare.

She was a member of the St. Augustine Church, choir and ladies guild. She and Harold were members of the Elks Club. Illa Mae enjoyed playing cards with her friends, taking care of her large yard, flowers, huge house and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

When Illa Mae could no longer remain in her home alone she became a resident of the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids for the past two years. Illa died there Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 28 days.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Riesberg on March 15, 1997; two sons Jack Riesberg and Jeff Riesberg; son in law Leo Wiederien; siblings Loraine Killeen, LaVerdos Reis, Myron Reis, Darnella Loneman, Delmar Reis, Betty Williams, Joe Reis and Karen Reis.

Mr. Riesberg, 66, died Saturday, March 15, 1997, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, his home since July 1996.

The Rev. Paul Kelly will officiate the Mass. Lector will be Tricia Langel. Gift bearers will be Brett Willenborg, Andrew Ocker and Jessica Ocker. Ehlers Gerken American Legion Post No. 694 of Arcadia will form a military honor guard. Casket bearers will be Scott Halbur, Rod Spearman, Kelly Reis, Rick Olerich, Mark Tunning and Randy Williams. Honorary casket bearers will be Leny Thelen, Paul Schaben, Neil Polking, Gerald Van Erdewyk, Don Riesberg, Clarence Eischeid, Leonard Riesselman and Delmar Thelen. Born Oct. 16, 1930, at Carroll, he was a son of John A. and Carmalita (Schulte) Riesberg. He was educated at St. Augustine grade school and Carroll High School. Mr. Riesberg was a corporal in the Army from 1952-54 and served in Alaska for 18 months. He and Illa Mae Reis were married June 18, 1955, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll.

Mr. Riesberg was co-owner of Riesberg Garage in Halbur. He was employed with Hawkeye Insurance and was a salesman for Agri Bolt. A lifelong resident of Halbur, he was a member of St. Augustine Parish in Halbur, the Ehlers- Gerken American Legion Post No. 694 of Arcadia and was a past member of the Carroll Elks Club.

Survivors include his mother, Carmalita Riesberg, of Audubon; his wife, Illa Mae Riesberg, of Halbur; six children: Becky Ocker, her husband, Bill, and children Andrew, Jessica and Mckenzie, all of Lincoln Neb; Barb Willenborg, her husband, Steve, and children Brett, Cody and Austin, all of Manning; Janet Wiederien, her husband, Leo, and children Nicole and Brandon, all of Des Moines; Joe Riesberg, his wife, Kim, and daughter, Bailee, all of Pocatello, Idaho; Jeff Riesberg of Shawnee, Kan; and Jay Riesberg and his fiancée, Amy Riesenberg, both of Templeton; five sisters: Marion GoodKnight of Kalamazoo, Mich., Lorraine Schieffer and her husband, Gene, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Eillen Halbur and her husband, Leander, of Manning, Lois Tunning of Guthrie Center and Joni Spearman and her husband, Jim, of Jefferson; and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Riesberg, of Phoenix, Ariz.

Riesberg, 21, of Denison, Tex., formerly of Halbur, who died Monday, October 31, in Parkland Hospital, Dallas Tex. as a result of injuries in a gas explosion and fire in his apartment, will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 4, at St. Augustine Church in Halbur.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joseph Reis.

Mr. Riesberg was born April 17, 1962, at Carroll, a son of Harold and Illa Mae Reis Riesberg. He received his education in Halbur and Carroll High School.

He was employed by the Kawneer Company at Denison, Tex. He had been in Texas for the past two years. He was married to Sharon Schieffer on December 27, 1982, at St. Augustine Church in Halbur by the Rev. Leo L. Riesberg.1

Joseph P. Reis
Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, February 17 for Joseph Reis, 59, who died at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines on Saturday, February 14, 1998. Rev. Paul Kelly was celebrant for the 10:30 a.m. Mass from Annunciation Church. Serving as lectors were Toni Reis Carter, Amy Reis and Karmen Leatherwood. Barb Willenborg was Eucharistic minister. Mass servers were Ryan Bass and David Bass. Granddaughters were gift bearers. Music was provided by the adult and youth choirs, Doris Bass organist. Internment was in Annunciation cemetery. Serving as casket bearers were Kevin Reis, Kraig Reis, Kim Reis, Kelly Reis, Kris Reis and Mike Heue. Grandsons were honorary casket bearers. J

oseph Paul, son of Joseph and Caroline Steinkamp Reis, was born May 5, 1938, in Breda. He attended school in Breda and then at St. Lawrence School in Carroll, where he had moved with his family. After completing his schooling he worked as a carpenter and at various other jobs.

On October 11, 1958, Joseph was united in marriage with Helen Rothmeyer at St. Peter and Paul Church in Carroll. Seven children were brn to this union. He farmed for others until 1972 when they moved to a farm north of Coon Rapids where he started farming on his own. Because of ill health they had a farm sale on January 19, 1998 and moved into their home in Coon Rapids. Joe was a member of the Annunciation Parish in Coon Rapids, Carroll County Fair Board, and a past member of the Pork Producers Board. He and his wife enjoyed the Left Footers Square Dancers Club for many years. He was an avid Coon Rapids-Bayard school fan.

Joe was diagnosed with emphysema 15 years ago and his health had deteriorated the past two years. He entered Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines a week before his death there on Saturday, February 14, 1998 at the age of 59 years, nine months and ten days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Myron Reis; a sister, Darty Loneman; his mother-in-law Gertrude Rothmeyer; a sister-in-law, Arlene Reis; three brothers-in-law: Charles Killeen, Harry Riesberg and Milo Olerich.

Helen F. Reis, 79, of Coon Rapids, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday,

February 25, 2020. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids with Father Patrick Behm as Celebrant. Music for the Mass will be by Diane Slater and the Annunciation Choir. Lector for the Mass will be Abby Reis, Lindsey Izurieta, and Alysha Heue. Eucharistic Minister will be Deacon Louis Meiner and Pat Kult. Gift bearers will be McKenzie McCall, Kennedi Vondrak, Jaycie Vondrak, and Bentley Vondrak. Burial will be in the Coon Rapids Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids after 4:00 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 6:00 P.M. followed by a Rosary. Helen Francis was born March 20, 1940, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, and was the daughter of Mathias and Gertrude (Klocke) Rothmeyer. She was baptized and confirmed at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. She attended Glidden Community Schools through 3rd grade and then transferred to St Joseph's in Dedham until the end of 6th grade. She spent 7th and 8th grade at Glidden Middle School, before transferring to Carroll Kuemper Catholic Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1958.

On October 11, 1958, she was united in marriage to Joseph Paul Reis at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll. They were blessed with seven children: Kevin, Kraig, Kim, Kelly, Kris, Kalynne, and Kari. They originally made their home in Wall Lake, Iowa where they lived for 5 years before moving to Odebolt, Iowa. In the spring of 1972, they moved from Odebolt to five miles north of Coon Rapids. Upon Joseph's retirement, they moved into Coon Rapids in January of 1998 and Joseph died on February 14, 1998. Helen was a homemaker who kept busy raising her children and tending to her large flower and vegetable gardens. In the mid 1980's Helen worked outside the home part time at the nursing home in Bayard in the laundry department. In the early 1990’s, she became employed with the Coon Rapids Community School District in the dietary department where she worked for several years. Helen then began working as a Nutrition Coordinator for Head Start at Community Opportunities in Carroll until she retired in 2017.

Helen was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids and sang in the church choir and was part of the church guild. She was also a member of the Carrollton Community Club. In their younger years Helen and Joseph were members of the Left Footers Square Dancing Club. Helen enjoyed playing cards and was in several neighborhood card clubs throughout the years. She always enjoyed decorating inside and out for each and every holiday. But most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, following all of their activities they were involved in. She will always be remembered for her infectious smile, her "gift of gab" and making time to sit down and have a pop with anyone.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Paul Reis; her parents Mathias and Gertrude Rothmeyer; her brother Vernon Rothmeyer; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Mr. Steinkamp died Monday, June 6, at the Crawford County Hospital In Denison.

Mr. Steinkamp was born Jan. 27, 1898, in Sac County, the son of Bernard and Elizabeth (Boes) Steinkamp. He married Julia Derner on April 10, 1923, at St. Bernard's Church in Breda. They owned and operated a farm in the Wall Lake area until his retirement.

Mr. Steinkamp Is survived by his wife, Julia, of Wall Lake; a daughter, Irma (Mrs. Norbert) Potthoff of Wall Lake; two sons, Edward and Paul, both of Wall Lake; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Julie Thobe of New Ulm, Minn, and Cornelia (Mrs. Paul) Terlisner of Phoenix, Ariz; and a brother, Lawrence of Wall Lake.

Mr. Steinkamp was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Eileen, and an infant daughter; a brother Frank, and two sisters, Caroline and Ida.2

Mrs. Steinkamp was born Oct. 26, 1898, in Carroll County, a daughter of Henry and Anna (Bachman) Derner.

On April 10, 1923, she married Theodore Steinkamp at St. Bernard Church in Breda. They farmed in the Wall Lake area. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wall Lake, the St. Joseph's Guild and a prayer group.

Survivors include two sons, Edward and his wife, Marjorie, and Paul and his wife, Bernadine, and a daughter, Irma (Mrs. Norbert) Potthoff, all of Wall Lake; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha (Mrs. Herbert) Tiefenthaler of Odebolt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1988; brothers, Arthur, Edward and Al Derner, and sisters, Mayme, Rose and Minnie.2

Edward Steinkamp, age 91 of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Twilight Acres in Wall Lake, IA. Eddie was born on November 23, 1926, to parents Theodore and Julia (Derner) Steinkamp at their home in Breda, IA.

On April 19, 1949, Eddie was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marjorie Wittrock at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle, IA. This union was blessed with ten children: Larry, Kenny, David, Tom, Bob, Randy, Rick, Marilyn, Mary Lou and Ronald. Eddie and Marge had 64 wonderful years together before her passing in 2013.

Eddie took great pride in being a farmer. He enjoyed his farm chores like milking cows and raising hogs. On Sundays, you could find him driving the country side. Eddie was a hard working man who enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Marjorie Ann Wittrock was born on May 10, 1929, in Hartington, NE, the daughter of Charles and Francis (Roth) Wittrock. She attended elementary school at Holy Angels in Roselle, IA and graduated from St. Angela Academy in Carroll, IA in 1947.

On April 19, 1949, Marge was united in marriage to the love of her life, Edward Steinkamp at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle, IA. This union was blessed with ten children: Larry, Kenny, David, Tom, Bob, Randy, Rick, Marilyn, Mary Lou, and Ronald.

Marge was a devoted wife and mother, whose priority was caring for her family and providing a loving and comfortable home. She loved to cook, play cards, tend her garden, work on embroidery projects, making many wonderful gifts for her family. She especially loved to play with her grandchildren and have family gatherings with her brothers and sisters. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Thomas C. Steinkamp
Thomas Charles Steinkamp, the son of Edward and Marjorie (Wittrock) Steinkamp, was born May 24, 1955, in Carroll, Iowa. His childhood years were spent on the family farm near Wall Lake, Iowa. He received his education, graduating from Wall Lake High School. Following high school, he worked at several places before becoming a police officer in Wall Lake. He then was a police officer in Sac City, Iowa, and also attended the Police Academy. Tom became a police officer in Spencer in 1982. In 1985, Tom applied to the Iowa State Patrol and also attended the Iowa State Law Enforcement Academy. Upon graduation, he worked in Sydney, Iowa, before moving to Spencer, Iowa, where he worked until his retirement in 2012. Tom was a volunteer firefighter in his earlier days and a licensed EMT. One of Tom’s platforms while in the Iowa State Patrol was teaching young kids the importance of driving safely. He taught driver’s education in various counties around the area. Tom taught CPR and various other medical classes to officers. Tom enjoyed patrolling the grounds at the Iowa State Fair for many years.

Tom married Cindy Rietsema on August 27, 1988, in Spencer, at the Hope Reformed Church. The couple made their home in Spencer where they raised their three boys. Tom enjoyed helping his friends, family and anybody who needed assistance. Tom didn’t like to sit around unless he was sitting on his deck with a cup of coffee and visiting and enjoying nature. He helped Kent and Sandy Thiessen and Bill and Colleen Gerdeman on their farms with planting and harvesting. He and Cindy worked together on remodeling several properties and selling them. He enjoyed boating and traveling. He and Cindy took trips to Alaska, Hawaii and Europe and enjoyed spending time in Florida during the winter since 2012.

Tom passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, August 2, 2019, at the age of 64. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Ronald and David; and one sister, Mary Lou Halbur.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cindy of Spencer, IA; three sons: Tyler (Lindsey) of Marion, IA, Cody (Brittney) of Milford, IA, and Ryan of Milford, IA; three step-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Jeremiah and Addysen; his siblings: Larry (Peggy) Steinkamp of Waukee, IA, Kenny (Janet) Steinkamp of Auburn, IA, Bob (Kim) Steinkamp of Primghar, IA, Randy (Lynette) Steinkamp of Ft. Dodge, IA, Rick (Sara) Steinkamp of Wall Lake, IA, and Marilyn (Michael) Kuchar of LaPlata, MD; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many, many friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in his name.
