Requiem mass for Wilmer OTool, 45, will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at St. Joseph Church, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. P. T. Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home after 7:30 p.m. Thursday, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday and 8 p.m. Friday, led by Msgr. Lynch.

Mr. O’ Tool was killed at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday 2 1/2 miles northwest of Casey, where he was employed by Grady Construction Co. A road machine he was driving overturned on him on a county road corner. Deputies said that the machine apparently went out of control as Mr. O’ Tool turned the corner. He had just started to work for the company and was helping move its equipment from a project five miles west of Guthrie Center to a bridge job near Casey. His son Arlen, who was employed with him, expects to return to work next week.

Mr. O'Tool was born at Breda Oct. 2, 1914, a son of Peter and Barbara O' Tool. His marriage to Rosina Reising took place June 28, 1938, at St. Bernard's Church, Breda, with Mrs. O' Tool's brother, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Zeno Reising, officiating at the ceremony. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. O' Tool lived a mile east and miles north of Breda, where they farmed for a year and a half. From there they moved to a farm seven miles east of Breda, where they resided for 14 years. .They moved to Carroll in 1953 and have made their home here since that time. He was a member of St. Joseph Church.

Survivors include his wife Rosina; the following children: Arlen, Richard, Marvajean, Clara, Joseph, Jeanette, Daryl, Mary Agnes, Ralph, Stanley, Betty Lou, Barbara, Frank, Jane Ann and Jimmy; his mother, Mrs. Barbara O 'Tool, Carroll; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Clara Reising, Breda; and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Clarence (Elvera) Tiefenthaler, Breda; Ivan O'Tool, Ida Grove; Mrs. Lawrence (Marcille) Engel, Carnarvon; Mrs. William (Iola) Muhlbauer, Manning; and Mrs. Jim (Rose Marie) McAllister, Bayard.

Preceding him in death were his father, who died in May, 1954, and a brother Marvin in 1935.2

Arlen P. O'Tool
Arlen Peter, son of Wilmer and Rosina (Reising) O’Tool was born May 12, 1939, in Carroll, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1957. Arlen was drafted into the United States Army in 1962 and honorably discharged in 1963.

On November 20, 1964, Arlen was united in marriage with Pamela Murphy. From this union eight children were born. He worked as a heavy equipment operator all of his life and also drove truck for many years. Arlen was united in marriage with Barbara Olesen in 1992. He retired in 2005 but continued to stay active.

Arlen was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bayard, The Lion’s Club and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 234 AFL-CIO. He enjoyed playing cards, the harmonica, listening to Rush Limbaugh and having his adult beverage in the evening. In his later years, he enjoyed painting though he would never admit it and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In April of 2015 Arlen became a resident of Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids. He died there on January 19, 2016, at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 7 days.

Preceding him in death are his parents, wife Barbara O’Tool in 2010, son Ryan in 2006 and brothers Daryl O’Tool and Stan O’Tool.

CARROLL - Sara J. (Birkett) O'Tool, 64, of Carroll died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at Nativity Catholic Church in Dubuque. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at Dubuque.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. and St. Lawrence Parish will hold a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. There will also be visitation from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Hoffman-Schneider Funeral Home of Dubuque is in charge of arrangements.

A daughter of Donald P. and Maryel M. (Sproule) Birkett, she was born Feb. 10, 1942, at Dubuque, completed high school at Academy of the Visitation in Dubuque and graduated from Antonio School of Practical Nursing in Carroll.

She and Richard A. O'Tool were married May 16, 1964, at Nativity Catholic Church in Dubuque. Mrs. O'Tool was a nurse at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll for 10 years. She was a legal secretary for Neu, Minnich, Comito and Neu in Carroll for 26 years.

She was a former member of Carroll Jaycees, the Licensed Practical Nursing Association and the Legal Secretaries Association. She was former chairperson of the Bloodmobile in Carroll and was a den mother for Cub Scouts. She was also a member of St. Lawrence Parish and Ladies Guild.

She enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends in Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland, France, Germany, Phoenix, Ariz., Boise, Idaho, and San Diego, Calif. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading, crossword puzzles and computer games.

Survivors include two sons: Michael O'Tool and wife Lori of Meridian, Idaho, and their children Derick, Haley, Dana, Tracey and Christopher, and Andrew O'Tool and wife Alina of San Diego and their children, Sean and Olivia; two daughters: Susan Schepanski and husband Robert of North Liberty and their children, Carter, Allison, Tasha, Trevor and Tyler, and Cindy Riesselman and husband Erik of Dallas Center and their children, Alexa and Ethan; two brothers: John Birkett and wife Jan of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Tom Birkett and wife Thalia of Standish, Mich; four sisters: Mary Jo Graham and husband Tom of Dubuque, Beth Splinter and husband Ken of Dubuque, Ruth Frantzen and Kent Mosher of Waukee and Kay Peters and husband John of Phoenix; and two sisters-in-law: Rose Birkett of Dubuque and Eileen Birkett of Dickeyville, Wis.

Mrs. O'Tool was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: James and Paul Birkett; and two sisters: Rita Manning and Ann Birkett in infancy.1

He and Marva O'Tool were married Nov. 24, 1962, at Carroll.

Mr. Louis was a member of Holy Trinity Parish for more than 40 years and enjoyed music - especially guitar and vocals - and golfing.

Clara Leona Fiebelkorn, age 73, of Carroll passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson as celebrant. Music for the Mass will be by the Holy Spirit Choir with Barb McDermott as organist. Lector for the Mass will be Faith Laboy. Gift bearers will be April Tigges, Becky Bianchi, and Susan Schepanski. Born on August 25, 1943, in Lake City, IA, she was the daughter of Wilmer Peter and Rosina Barbara (Reising) O’Tool. She grew up in Carroll and attended Carroll High School. She was married to Arthur Fiebelkorn on February 1, 1969. The couple lived in Glidden after their marriage and later moved to Carroll. Clara had a daycare in her home for many years. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed playing cards, visiting with her friends, and she loved her family especially her nieces and nephews and her great nieces and nephews.

Clara is survived by her six sisters: Marvagene Louis of Colorado Spirngs, CO, Jeanette Bolster (Fran) of Auburn, Mary Scott (Tom) of Ames, Elizabeth O’Tool (Warren Molser) of Christiansted, USVI, Barbara Karstens (Marvin) of Bryan, TX, and Jane Ann Podewils (Larry) of Carnarvon, IA; six brothers: Richard “Dick” O’Tool of Carroll, Joe O’Tool (Jolene) of Alpha, IL, Ralph O’Tool (Janie) of Malvern, IA, Frank O’Tool (Maggie) of Carroll, Jim O’Tool of Carroll, and Dan O’Tool (Meryln) of Houston, TX; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents Wilmer and Rosina O’Tool; her husband Art Fiebelkorn; three brothers: Arlen, Daryl, and Stan; and her special friend Donnie Schwabe.2

He graduated from Kuemper High School in 1964 and attended the University of Iowa. He was a construction supervisor who specialized in site preparation.

Stanley W. O'Tool
Stanley W. O’Tool, 48, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and formerly of Carroll, where he manage the Circle B Lumber Co., died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital South in Scottsdale.

Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The celebrant will be Father James McCormick. Gift bearers will be Rosina O’Tool and Leonard and Lucille Fischer. Eucharistic minister will be Joseph O’Tool and lector will be Marlene O’Tool. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Auburn.

Born April 29, 1950, in Carroll, he was a son of Wilmer and Rosina (Reising) O’Tool. He spent most of his lifetime in the Carroll community and attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1968.

He entered the Army in September 1969 and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in April 1971.

He married Linda Fischer at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll on Sept. 2, 1972. Mr. O’Tool was employed by H.F. Schroeder and Sons Construction Co., and for many years was manager of Circle B Lumber Co.

Mr. O’Tool is survived by his three children, Craig O’Tool and his fiancée, April Adams, of Scottsdale, Eric O’Tool of Scottsdale and Kelly O’Tool and her special friend Ronald Hawes, of Carroll; his mother, Rosina O’Tool, of Carroll; brothers and sisters, Arlen O’Tool and his wife, Barb, of Coon Rapids, Richard O’Tool and his wife, Marlene, of Lake View, Marvajean Louis and her husband, Larry, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Clara Fiebelkorn and her special friend, Don Schwabe, of Carroll, Joseph O’Tool and his wife Jolene, of Alpha, Ill., Jeanette Holmes and her special friend, Francis Bolster, of Wall Lake, Mary Scott and her husband. Tom, of Ames, Ralph O’Tool and his wife, Janie, of Malvern, Iowa, Elizabeth Kurtz and her husband, Marty, of Bettendorf, Iowa, Barbara, Karsten and her husband, Marv, of Bryan, Texas, Frank O’Tool and his wife, Maggie, of Carroll, Jane Podswils and her husband, Larry, of Carnarvon, James O’Tool and his special friend, Jeanne Meyers, of Carroll and Daniel O’Tool and his wife, Merlyn, of Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Daryl O’Tool; and grandparents, Peter and Barbara O’Tool and Max and Clara Reising.2

Gervase John "Gerry" Eischeid
Gerry John, son of George and Mathilda Olbertz Eischeid, was born May 1, 1919, at Halbur, Iowa. He attended rural schools near his home. On November 21, 1939, Gerry was united in marriage with Leona Mary Reising at Breda. Fifteen children were born to his union. They farmed in the Carroll area until 1952 when they moved to Guthrie Center. Gerry continued to farm until 1959 when he began to work with heavy construction equipment. In 1979 they moved to Bayard and he retired shortly thereafter.

Gerry was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish in Bayard, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus at one time. He and his wife enjoyed wintering in Texas for fifteen years until two years ago when his health began to fail. His wife and family were able to care for him at home.

Gerry died on Wednesday, December 17, 1997, at him home in Bayard, Iowa, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 15 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Sandra Eischeid in 1944 and Gail Smith in 1996; one grandson, Troy Eischeid; one granddaughter, Nicole Capps; two great grandsons, Joshua Smith and Jonathon Jensen; a son-in-law, Larry Smith; three brothers; Stanley, George, and Walter Eischeid; and one sister, Pearl Wittemeyer.

Gerry is survived by his wife Leona of Bayard; by thirteen children: Marietta and her husband, Don Worshek, of Bayard; Carlene and her husband, Chuck Jensen of Conway, MO; Judee and her husband, Jim Vaughan of Yale; Carol and her husband, Lyle Laughery of Guthrie Center; Joyce and her husband, Dennis Betts of Coon Rapids; Lois and her husband, Lanny Derry of Woodward; Beverly and her husband, Jack Dailey of Albion, NE; Sharon and her husband, Gene Capps of Indianola; Cindy and her husband, Al Phillips of West Des Moines; Geri and her husband, Dana Tews of Bayard; and Kimberly and her husband, Dennis Patrick of Guthrie Center: Leon Eischeid and his wife, Cheryl of Bayard; and Mark Eischeid of Bayard. He is also survived by 52 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; a son-in-law, Audrey Smith of Bayard; two sisters: Mickey and her husband, John Schloss, of Strawberry Point and Rusty and her husband, Don Parr, of Marion, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
